Hertfordshire Health Walks is a free countywide programme of friendly, volunteer-led group walks designed to help people of all ages and abilities become more active, improve their physical and mental wellbeing, and enjoy the outdoors. With walks taking place across Hertfordshire every week, participants can choose from a range of graded routes, from gentle "First Steps" sessions for those returning to activity after illness or injury, through to longer, more challenging walks. There's no membership fee or booking required for most walks – simply turn up and join in. As well as promoting healthy lifestyles, the walks provide a welcoming social environment where people can build confidence, make new friends and discover the county's parks, green spaces and countryside. The programme is coordinated by Hertfordshire County Council's Countryside Management Service and is part of the national Walking for Health network.
