Community groups and residents across North Herts are invited to come together on Wednesday, June 10, for a special screening of Power Station at Broadway Cinema & Theatre in Letchworth, aimed at inspiring local climate action and supporting the growth of community‑led renewable energy projects.
The event is being held as part of Great Big Green Week (6–14 June), the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change. The screening will be followed by a live Q&A with co‑director Dan Edelstyn, hosted by Cllr Amy Allen.
The event will begin at 4.30pm with a dedicated networking session with community energy groups, environmental organisations, local councils, and residents interested in climate action. It provides a chance for groups and individuals to connect, share ideas, and explore ways to support community led renewable projects across North Herts.
At 5.20pm, the cinema will screen ‘Power Station’, created by directors Hilary Powell and Dan Edelstyn, which follows their mission to bring solar panels to every home on their street and a local school in Walthamstow, East London. The film highlights how neighbourhood led action can achieve what might feel impossible for individuals acting alone.
The evening will conclude with a live Q&A at 7pm, hosted by Cllr Amy Allen, alongside codirector Dan Edelstyn. The conversation will explore how community energy groups – including those in North Herts – can take meaningful steps toward local renewable energy, from solar cooperatives to resident led climate projects.
The event will be filmed live, allowing the conversation and ideas shared on the night to reach a wider audience beyond those attending in person. This follows an earlier screening of the documentary at Broadway Cinema & Theatre in January this year.
